Neighborhood Watch : You're an artist but you're also a writer. Words seem to be a major part of your art work. What is your message?
Do all the things they say you can't do, and love every moment of it.
Neighborhood Watch : There is a certain scatter effect that repeats itself in your work. A good example of this are the multi-colored squares that can be found at Lab Art. Is this for visual stimulation, or is there another meaning to it.
I have heard a lot of responses from the pointillism squares that i have been painting of late. Some say its relaxing like lookingat stars, bullet-holes or a school of fish. There's something soothing about creating them, bring them to life and seeing them fan out and disperse. The pixelsare fun to experiment with at the moment. My favorite response has been, “Are those wads of gum?” Cool. No, they are wads of paint. What you get fromthem when you stand in front of them is the meaning.
Neighborhood Watch : What drives you to create art?
I don't want to get a real job.
I am in the Friendly Fire show at Le Spec Gallery on July 9th with some other freaky hooligans. I am also working with photographer Rachel Fleischer on WHAT CAN I DO? It is a campaign to raise awareness and compassion about homelessness through art. You should definitely check it out. She's amazing. I encourage a ton of artists to link up with her and help out. It feels good man. And as always, I am working on painT, a film that I wrote about the life of the artist Vincent van Gogh set in modern times. This project has been on my plate for the past five years and it's beautiful and scary to watch it come to life. You can read all about it here:
